Org-mode is an outliner at it's heart, this make super easier to travel through text, something markdown can't do (not because of the markup itself, folding text is not a new concept, but because many "modern people" do not think about that).

Personally I use org-roam/Emacs, I can't recommend anything else for many reasons despite it's steep learning curve depending how "far" from Emacs/"computer stuff" you are, it's worth the effort so much.įirst: org-mode. But overall I like Obsidian and his videos were what I watched at first. Note his examples make extensive use of tags, which I'm not sure I agree with, since I've had very bad experiences with tag overload which naturally leads to over engineering a tag system which collapses under its own weight. They also have a set of "official" plugins that you can toggle on and off to activate various features too, like using zettle ids if you like, etc.Īnd here's the guy behind Linking Your Thinking (LYT) with a series of videos introducing Obsidian for complete beginners: It uses a plugin system so the team can focus on the most important parts of Obsidian itself and allow the community to expand its capability via plugins. So you can go from it to any other system including plain text notepad if you want.
